Im Beisein von Regierungsvertretern aus Luxemburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland und Nordrhein-Westfalen fiel am 30. März 2017 am Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld der öffentliche Startschuss für das Projekt.
