Review Online Conference “Climate Protection in Natural Landscapes” on 19 May 2021

Under the motto “Climate protection in natural landscapes – practical examples”, the ZENAPA partner Barnim Nature Park and the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) invited participants to a digital conference on 19 May. Projects from the field of tension between climate protection and nature conservation were presented in short lectures. The spectrum of topics ranged from nature-friendly use of renewable energies through early bird detection and Agri-PV to strategic approaches of various umbrella organisations to tourism offers and innovative (climate) education projects. The aim of the event was to inform administrations of natural landscapes about possible options for action in the areas of climate protection and climate change adaptation.

With more than 100 participants from protected area administrations, district and rural authorities, umbrella organisations and research institutes from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the event met with broad interest. The great response is a clear sign that climate protection and climate change adaptation are also gaining importance in the development of natural landscapes and that increased commitment is needed at various levels of nature conservation. The event took place within the framework of the EU-Life project ZENAPA and was listed as a partner event of the EU Green Week.
